Corinne is originally from South Africa. She immigrated to the United States in 1983. She worked in the Bay Area in High Technology until 2000.
Her passion has always been the outdoors. She was an avid equestrienne in South Africa where she competed successfully in Show Jumping and Eventing disciplines. A lover of wine, she always was intrigued by the wine making process.
With the stresses of the cut-throat business in High Tech, she yearned to move to the country where she intended to have a horse ranch with a hobby vineyard. When she happened on the Torre Ranch in Amador County, she knew she had found the land of her dreams. However, her priorities shifted and now she has a commercial vineyard, with 2 well-bred thoroughbred horses that she had hoped to breed in 2007, but things being the way they are, this, has been put on hold while she concentrates on her wine business. Meanwhile the horses are leading the life of luxury!
She owes a lot of her inspritation to her father who was a positive influence throughout her life and supported her in all her endeavours. Her brother, Ray Moore, was also extremely supportive of her move from 'The City High Tech Executive' to the 'Good Ol' Farm Gal'.
Corinne is 'hands-on' in all aspects of the business. Originally she did all the farming herself, but has let go the reins a little in 2006, when she hired a competent vineyard consultant, Carol Laubach of Lauzere Vineyard Management that helped her though the 2006 season and beyond.
Corinne's son Nic, was the inspiration for the name. On a trip in the country, passing a vineyard, a 5-year old Nic yelled out - "Look, Mom, Wine Trees!" The name stuck. Nic, too, is involved with helping his Mom realize her dream.
The name of the wine - SyrGreMour - was derived from the First few letters of the grape varietals used in the blend. We decided that this wine was so special that we couldn't call it just 'Table Wine'!
